Moryua Break wall Teenage rampage competition site 2008

Each year the event is held Between the venues of North Broulee, South Broulee and North head Beach at Moruya near Batemans Bay on the South coast NSW. 2007 was its first year  the event ran and attracted 70 competitiors from Kiama to the Victorian Border. In 2008 the event was the biggest event of its kind south of Sydney, the competition was held in stunning 3-4 feet hollow surf at Moruya Break Wall, with 99 competitors entered.

The idea for the event started a while back; living in Broulee I grew up surfing with both Phil and his twin brother Anthony Macdonald, after many years competing around the world Phil has become an elite surfer on the world surfing tour, while now after following the same path Anthony has retired from professional surfing and is now event and athlete supervisor for Redbull Australia. Both being generous people the Macca's brothers thought it would be great to put something back into what has given them so much. One afternoon in 2006 while sitting on my front deck the three of us decided that an event like this would be great for junior surfers from this area and decided on the spot to go about making it happen.

6 months latter and after many, many phone calls and a bucket load of organizing the grommets all turned up at Broulee to compete.

The first event was hailed a huge success by all involed. Now after the second year running with national media attention, helicopter news feeds and ridiculous generousity from the sponsors, even our event format has spread to the national and international stage. Broulee board riders and myself would like to thank all that helped to make the event arguably the best Junior event in Austraila.. Broulee Boardriders provided the nuts and bolts putting in dozens of volunteers hours, and without them the event simply wouldn't have happened.
