Surfing Technique Training and Elite Competition Coaching
This is Broulee beach on the NSW South Coast while I'm giving Rohan Rivette and Jesse Rooney technique feed back after a coaching drill. I'm putting into practice what I learn from the Level 2 surfing coaching course that I attended.

The week long intensive course was held at the surfing High performance centre at Casurina Beach on the far north coast of NSW. I picked up may good traing pratices and skills in my time there and can see the results in my students.
The biggest tool I use is the Headzone helmets with inbuilt waterproof radio system where I can give students instant feed back while they continue surfing. With all my coaching sessions I like to use video analysis for students surfing, this way I can pull apart a poor surfing technique piece by piece and refine the training technique for easier faster improvement.

After many months preparation my long time students Bijou Busse and Mitch Shiels and I took off to Compete in their first Australasia event. After saying goodbye to Mum and dad we jumped a Qantas Flight to Auckland New Zealand.
Booked a Hire car and headed south and after the 2 ½ hour Drive we arrived at the sleepy town of Raglan on the West coast of New Zealand.

The event was The N.Z Billabong Pro junior event at Manu Bay in Raglan, stop 3 three on the Billabong pro teen Junior surfing circuit. This is Bijou Busse, Mitch Shiels and myself after a warm up practice surf before the event.

Bijou pre-event psyche up. In their first year at the event Both Bijou and Mitch progressed to the 3rd round. "We scored some awesome waves and just had a great time, I cant wait till next year to come back again" said Bijou. Bijou and Mitch both shinned in the long left hand walls, The waves at Manu Bay are very similar to a good day at South Broulee.

When we arrived back home after the great walls of Raglan we all knuckled down and got straight back into solid Training. Lets hope we get more waves again at this great surfing decimation. Damo
